About the club
The art of the sword, alive today
For thousands of years, people's lives, the borders of nations and the fortunes of aristocrats depended on the sword, the spear and the bow. People fought for survival, wealth, glory, faith and ideals. The skill of wielding these weapons was highly prized and preserved in — sometimes ciphered — treatises we can still read today.
These weapons no longer play their historical role, but they remain a way to connect with the past and the world around us — through martial arts.
Forte brings together people drawn to martial arts, sport, history, self-improvement — or simply swords, sabres and unconventional hobbies.
We meet three times a week for two-hour sessions. Training suits anyone who can handle at least moderate physical effort and stay focused. We keep sessions as safe as possible — which is why under-18s are admitted only after demonstrating discipline and a serious attitude.
